The Article “Formulating More Natural Products: A Discussion” published in Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine is addressing an interesting debate in the field of cosmetics industry. This article presents the opinion of a cosmetic chemist that believes that water is “bad” in cosmetic formulation. This chemist believes that the sole role of water in cosmetics is cost reduction. He argues that water makes cosmetics less natural since formulating products containing water requires the addition of preservatives and other chemical ingredients to adequately purify, preserve and emulsify formulas.
