Once again, the NYSCC Suppliers’ Day showcased numerous new products and latest innovations from global suppliers. It also offered a dynamic environment that promoted scientific exchange and business opportunities. A novelty this year: the presentation of education sessions during the event.
Among others, Nakissa Sadrieh, the Director of the Cosmetic Division at the FDA, presented a talk that provided a review on the U.S. cosmetics regulations and a discussion of the current active priorities for the FDA including compliance related activities, labeling and claims.
Once again the FDA reminded manufacturers and distributors that they are responsible for the safety of market products: they should obtain all the data and information needed to substantiate their product safety before marketing their products. Furthermore, it is important to keep in mind that the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) prohibits adulterated or misbranded cosmetics, hence performance claims should also be validated via clinical studies.
